jQuery Effects Reference

The jQuery library provides several techniques for adding various kind of amazing effects.

jQuery effect methods allow us to quickly apply commonly used effects with a minimum configuration.

jQuery Effect Methods

The following table lists all the jQuery methods for creating animation effects:

Method Description
animate() Perform a custom animation of a set of CSS properties
clearQueue() Removes all remaining queued functions that have not yet been run
delay() Set a timer to delay execution of subsequent items in the queued functions
dequeue() Removes the next function from the queue, and then executes the function
fadeIn() Fades in the selected elements
fadeOut() Fades out the selected elements
fadeTo() Fades in/out the selected elements to a given opacity
fadeToggle() Toggles between the fadeIn() and fadeOut() methods
finish() Stop the currently-running animation, remove all queued animations, and complete all animations
hide() Hides the selected elements
queue() Show or manipulate the queue of functions to be executed on the selected elements
show() Shows the selected elements
slideDown() Display the selected elements with a sliding motion
slideToggle() Toggles between the slideUp() and slideDown() methods
slideUp() Hide the selected elements with a sliding motion
stop() Stops the currently running animation for the selected elements
toggle() Toggles between the hide() and show() methods
