CSS cursor Property

The cursor property specifies the type of cursor to be displayed when the mouse pointer is placed over an element.

Property Values

The following table describes the values of cursor property:

Value Description
auto The browser determines the cursor (This is default)
alias Indicates that an alias or shortcut is to be created
all-scroll Indicates that something can be scrolled in any direction
cell Indicates that a cell (or set of cells) can be selected
context-menu Indicates that a context-menu is available
col-resize Indicates that the column can be resized horizontally
copy Indicates something is to be copied
crosshair A simple crosshair. Often used to indicate selection in a bitmap
default The default cursor for the platform, without regard for the context, typically an arrow
e-resize Indicates that an edge of a box is to be moved right (east)
ew-resize Indicates a bidirectional resize cursor
grab Indicates that something can be grabbed
grabbing Indicates that something is being grabbed
help Indicates that help is available
move Indicates something is to be moved
n-resize Indicates that an edge of a box is to be moved up (north)
ne-resize Indicates that an edge of a box is to be moved up and right (north/east)
nesw-resize Indicates a bidirectional resize cursor
ns-resize Indicates a bidirectional resize cursor

progress A progress indicator. The program is performing some processing but the user can still interact with the interface
row-resize Indicates that the row can be resized vertically
s-resize Indicates that an edge of a box is to be moved down (south)
se-resize Indicates that an edge of a box is to be moved down and right (south/east)
sw-resize Indicates that an edge of a box is to be moved down and left (south/west)

A comma separated list of URLs to user-defined cursors

Always specify a generic cursor at the end of the list, in case none of the URL-defined cursors can be used
